Seats
Most 3 wheel double buggies are initially single pushchairs. However, some can be converted to take a second seat or carrycot by converting adapters (these are typically more common in tandem buggies). Some models allow you to add an extra board for older children who are ready to walk, but still need some help.
For a light-weight alternative that's ideal for city streets, take a look at the Joie Evalite Duo. It's easy to maneuver and comes with a large basket that has plenty of storage space. It can be used to accommodate twins from birth and accommodate two car seats or a carrycot and seat. However, the seats have to face forwards and there's no room for a shopping bag under which is why you'll need a sidepack to do this.
If you're looking to go off-road and off-road, the Mountain Buggy Duet is a great choice. It's a side-by- side with the smallest footprint of any double buggy available. This allows it to pass through doors with narrow openings and on public transport and allows you to climb up and down kerbs without much trouble. It also has a handbrake on the handlebar that can be adjusted for more security and safety.
Another lightweight choice is the UPPAbaby Vista 2 Double, which can be used for twins or a toddler and a baby. The seats have multi-position reclining and UPF 50+ sunshades, while the canopy can be adjusted to keep the sun from your child's eyes. The Vista 2 can be converted into triple by adding UPPAbaby's "PiggyBack" board for older children.

Alternatively, the phil&teds dot is a brilliant single buggy that is available from day one that can then easily adapt to take 2 (or 3!) different configurations. Suspension
The suspension of a double 3 wheel buggy will determine the ease with which your child/children and you can push it. A smooth ride is essential since babies can feel every bump on the road, particularly if it's on rough terrain like grass or paths that aren't paved. Certain models come with locking front tires that help maneuver and get over obstacles like curbs.
Some models come with air-filled tyres that give you a great all-terrain ride, but can be susceptible to punctures, so make sure you have a spare set in the trunk. Other models use gel or foam tyres that are designed to take the bumps and are less prone to punctures however, you may find them to be a bit stiff and uncomfortable for your child's back when you choose to jog.
The side-by-side is the most suitable buggy for city walks. It has a brilliant suspension system that allows you to easily and comfortably navigate any terrain. You can also upgrade the duet by adding our dual kit to be able to accommodate two children - all within the same footprint!
MFM reviewer Kath test-driven the Urban Glide 2 with her newborn and 3-year-old and found it to be very capable on difficult terrain. "It navigated effortlessly across bumpy sidewalks and grass cobbles, dirt, and tracks and was easy to maneuver around corners and climb up and down kerbs." Folding
A three-wheel double buggy can fold quite easily to store it. There are models that fold flat and stand up (as though they were in the shape of a pushchair) and others that are able to open up to reveal more umbrella-style folding with a hand-operated break. The more wheels the buggy has, generally the easier it will be to maneuver on rough terrain. This is especially true if the wheels are larger than the average size. You will have more stability, and it will be less likely that you will be forced to tip over or flip your child.
A popular choice is the iCandy Wave, which can be used as early as birth with an infant car seat, and transforms into a side-by-side double buggy when your child is old enough to allow them to sit beside each one. It's a lightweight option that is easy to push. It also comes with a bumper bar and rain cover.
The phil&teds sports is an alternative option. It is future-proof since it's an excellent buggy that can be altered to take two (or three!) All of this is incorporated into its compact footprint. It is a clever 3-wheel design with the sling seat to provide greater maneuverability, stability and kerb pop.
If you're looking to jog with your kids it is the best double buggie for jogging because it has a lockable swivel front wheel that can help you keep your balance when tackling hilly or off-road tracks. It also comes with a large undercarriage basket, a movable handlebar, and a soft suspension to ensure a comfy ride.
This is a very lightweight and compact option that folds easily with one hand and is great for travel. It's compatible with an extensive variety of infant car seats and has a handy pull-out undercarriage basket that can be used to stash items. It's on the expensive side, but it does have some standout features that make it a good price, including its simple one-click fold, and a host of other features including a bumper bar and raincover.
Stores
One thing that a lot of people appreciate about a great triple wheeled double buggy is its storage capabilities. Certain models, such as the Roma Atlas, have a large basket, as well as two zip pockets on the hood where you can keep your phone and keys. It's also designed to withstand a bit rough terrain making it a good choice for family walks or all-terrain hikes.
